Ingredients
  • 1tsp Cinnamon, ground
  • 1/2tsp Ginger, ground
  • 1/2tsp Cardamon, ground
  • 1/2tsp Ground Nutmed
  • 1/2tsp Allspice
  • 2 Whole Cloves
  • 2tbl Organic Maple SyrupThis is optional, but adds a touch of sweetness. I haven’t tried not using it yet.
  • 6tbl Ground Organic Decaf Coffee
  • 1/2cup Califia Farms Organic Almond Homestyle Nut MilkOrganic whole milk works too.
Instructions
  1. Bring all of the spices just to a boil with about 2 cups of water in a small saucepan. You need enough water because this will be the base for making your coffee.
  2. Stir well or whisk, remove from heat and let steep for at least 5 minutes.
  3. Add maple syrup and bring back up to a slight boil. Steep for at least another 5 minutes.
  4. Add the coffee grounds to a french press and then pour in your water/spice blend. Allow to steep at least 5 minutes. Longer is stronger flavor.
  5. Just before your blend is done steeping, pour your milk into the saucepan and warm it up. I wouldn’t bring it to a boil. Stop just before boiling.
  6. Add the milk to a container for frothing. I use a small stainless steel creamer-style pitcher. Use an immersion blender or milk frother to froth your milk.
  7. Pour your chai coffee into two mugs and then slowly pour your milk on top. Spooning any remaining froth on top of that.
  8. Enjoy!!
Recipe Notes

Tips:  You can sprinkle a little cinnamon on top and swirl it into any shape you like.

If you want a caffeinated beverage, just use regular coffee; or during the first steep add in two black tea bags and skip the coffee/french press step.
